912 Spaight Street

2009-09-15

Welcome to 912 Spaight Street! Homeowners Bob and Ellie live in this Victorian style home with their cat.

Bob is an Architect with a well-established history of renovating historical buildings, so he and Ellie decided to manage the entire renovation process. The inspiration for this dramatic renovation and addition was a memorial to Bob and Ellie’s parents’. Before the renovation, Bob and Ellie envisioned a "rustic resort style", because their family likes to ski at Cascade Mountain and the rustic look fits their lifestyle.

Bob and Ellie purchased the home ten years ago for their son, who attended the doctorate program at UW Madison. Ellie retired from teaching after 33 years and Bob liked the idea of moving his architectural business to Madison.

Great expense and time were invested in this home, but Bob and Ellie moved forward without hesitation. They really loved the location near Lake Monona and the home’s significant history. Famed Artist Georgia O’Keefe occupied their second story bedroom! Her artwork still adorns the walls.

During the two year renovation process, the following projects were completed:
